WHAT IS STRIPPING YOUR MEMBRANES

Stripping your membranes is a process when your OB provider performs a vaginal exam and separates the amniotic sac from the cervix.  It is quick and can be a bit uncomfortable. The benefit, it releases hormones, and in many cases, especially if you are past 40 weeks, will stimulate labor to begin.

If stripping your membranes works, you will likely notice the onset of contraction within about 24 hours.

Do you want to avoid an induction?  This may be a good alternative.  Ask your provider if you are a good candidate for stripping your membranes.

Please comment below if you had your membranes stripped and let others know if it worked for you!
